Things to Point Out & Remember
We appreciate you taking the time to learn about our process at West Georgia Spay Neuter Clinic. The following information will ensure a speedy and hassle-free experience.
-
We do not charge extra for pregnant, in-heat, animals, or feral cat ear tips.
-
We offer pediatric spay and neuters. Puppies and kittens must be 12 weeks of age and weigh at least 2lbs. As a safety precaution we do not perform surgery on English bulldogs, Great Danes, Dobermans, or French Bulldogs.
-
We require any dog 5 years of age and older to have a heartworm test done during their pre-surgical exam.
-
All animals receive long lasting pain medication at time of surgery.
-
Pets must be able to pass a physical exam before proceeding with surgery.
-
If fleas are noted during the pre-op exam, your pet will be given a Capstar(24 hour flea pill) at the owner's expense of $10.
-
For safety reasons, we require that all dogs take home an e-collar (aka: cone of shame).
-
We recommend vaccines be given 2-3 weeks before surgery so they have some immunity to diseases they may encounter where other animals are present. We offer vaccine clinics every third Saturday of every month. If you do not get them prior to your appointment, vaccines can be done at time of surgery as well.
-
The only vaccine that is required by law is Rabies and we must have valid proof from a licensed veterinarian at the time of check in (tags will not be accepted as valid proof). If your pet is not current, we are required by law to administer one at the time of surgery for an additional $15.00.
-
We require pets over 7 years of age to have pre-surgical bloodwork done. We will not perform surgeries on pets older than 8 years of age. It is available here for $60.00. You can come in anytime Monday-Thursday between 9:00-12:00 PM. Results generally take 24 to 48 hours.
-
All dogs must be on a leash and cats must remain in their carriers. If you do not have a carrier at the time of check in you must purchase a cardboard carrier from us for $15.
Scheduling & Payments
We are a high volume clinic. Please schedule as far in advance as you can. If you need to reschedule please call 48 hours before your scheduled appointment.
SPECIAL NEEDS PETS:We are a very high volume clinic so we ask that you leave your pet in the car until you have checked in. If you have a high anxiety pet please let us know when you are making your appointment and we can make special arrangements for you. Please keep in mind that our services are not a fit for every pet. If there is a chance that your pet may need to be muzzled, we will ask you to wait with your pet in the car until the end of check in. Every situation is different and we will do our best to accommodate accordingly.
- We do not accept walk in pets with the exception of feral cats in humane traps.
- Payment can be made with Cash, Visa, MasterCard or Discover. Unfortunately we cannot accept personal checks. We do not accept Care Credit.
- Effective 11/01/2022 - There is a 3% surcharge when using a credit card. We encourage the use of cash or debit card to avoid this fee.
- Balance payment is expected at time of pick-up/discharge. Please allow time for post surgery home care instructions.
- There is an additional charge of $30 for late pickup. We are not able to board pets.
- An animal will be considered abandoned after 24 hours and will be turned over to the Douglas County Animal Control, as we do not have the space to keep them. We appreciate your prompt pick-up and payment.
